Procurement Resource Analyses the Production Cost of Chloroprene Rubber in its New Report

Analyses Overview of The New Production Cost Report of Chloroprene Rubber

The new report by Procurement Resource, a global procurement research, and consulting firm, looks in-depth into the costs involved in the production of Chloroprene Rubber. The comprehensive report analyses the production cost of the material, covering the raw material costs and co-product credit, equipment costs, land and site costs, labour wages, maintenance costs, financing charges, and depreciation costs. The extensive study describes the stepwise consumption of material and utilities along with a detailed process flow diagram. The report also assesses the latest developments within the industry that might influence Chloroprene Rubber production costs, looking into capacity expansions, plant turnarounds, mergers, acquisitions, and investments.

Product Definition:

Chloroprene rubber, often known as polychloroprene rubber or neoprene, is a synthetic rubber made by polymerizing chloroprene. The exceptional features of chloroprene rubber (CR), such as chemical stability and flexibility over a wide temperature range, lead to its extensive usage in a variety of applications, such as a raw material in modifying adhesives and the creation of latex goods, among others. Increased private-public investment in the construction sector, and a focus on infrastructure development projects, particularly in developing nations, will continue to drive CR demand in the building and construction industry.

Factors Impacting the Chloroprene Rubber Production Cost:

The global need for fuel-efficient automobiles will drive expansion in the Chloroprene Rubber market. The electronic sector is growing its need for chloroprene rubber due to its many attributes, including lightweight, dielectric capabilities, high-temperature resistance, and high-impact qualities. Rapid urbanisation and economic growth in Asia Pacific’s rising economies are predicted to increase demand for chloroprene rubbers used in building composites. End-use sectors such as the rubber and adhesive industries require chloroprene rubber. Chloroprene rubber is also used to make dipped goods like gloves, and to increase bitumen quality and mould foam. These factors are expected to impact the production cost of Chloroprene.

Procurement Resource Assessment of Chloroprene Rubber Production:

The production cost report by Procurement Resource assesses the production of chloroprene rubber via free-radical emulsion polymerization, from butadiene and chlorine, and from chloroprene, water, and sulphur. In the first production process via free-radical emulsion polymerization, chloroprene is polymerized using potassium persulfate to produce chloroprene rubber. The second production process from butadiene and chlorine involves an integrated process. The integrated process encompasses a vapour phase butadiene chlorination process, followed by the free-radical emulsion polymerisation. Firstly, chlorination of butadiene takes place to produce 1,4-dichloro-2-butene and 3,4-dichloro-1-butene. The 1,4-dichloro-2-butene isomers produced are converted into 3,4-dichloro 1-butene isomers, which are further dehydrochlorinated. The dehydrochlorination takes place in the presence of caustic soda, producing chloroprene and sodium chloride. Finally, the chloroprene produced undergoes the polymerisation process to form chloroprene rubber as the final product. In the third production process of chloroprene from chloroprene, water and sulphur are added to chloroprene, which is further heated at a high temperature and then cooled. The frozen mixture is finally made into thin sheets to produce chloroprene rubber.
